End-of-year SpaceChem info

A few things:

  • According to EDGE magazine and Gamasutra/IndieGames.com, SpaceChem is the indie game of the year! I’m really happy that things have transpired to the point where this could be the case, and want to thank all of the Zachtronics Industries fans, both new and old, who helped get us where we are today.
  • We’ve sold out of physical copies of SpaceChem and have thus removed it from the Zachtronics Industries store. We may print more copies in the future, although it’d probably be through a service like Kickstarter, allowing us to ensure we’d sell enough of them to break even and batch together most of the sales. If this sounds like something that’s interesting to you, let us know in the comments.

Great indie game indeed! I’m starting a french “serie” which presents indie games and SpaceChem was the first. This game really surprises me at the first, which i get with the Humble Bundle #3 (HB #2 in bonus).

I started this serie because there’s so many good indie games not all really known, we need to speak more about it. Some guys doing a great job on it like TotalBiscuit in English, and due to the fact i wanna be an indie dev too (still learning, i’m a web dev “at the base” (sorry if the expression isn’t good)).

Anyway, you can found a french article on SpaceChem related to the video of presentation on Youtube.

Hey Zach — just wanted to say thanks again for the absolutely amazing game. I visited my brother and his family this Christmas, and once we got the kids to bed I walked him through Chapter 1 (I had bought it for him, but it hadn’t clicked), and the old endorphins started flooding in again. Congrats on the plaudits and all the best.

For what is worth, I penned 3 Italian SpaceChem reviews on different e-zines/magazines praising the game each and every time. I like to think that I helped moving some Italian sales, but you cannot be sure. For me SpaceChem is the game of the year, but I can see it not “clicking” with some people. I am really looking forward to Zach’s next game, whatever that is and whenever it might happen :D
