The Codex of Alchemical Engineering

Like Alchemy, but More Tangible!

The Codex of Alchemical Engineering is a puzzle game about programming “manipulators” to move, transmute, and bind alchemical “atoms” into complex compounds.

A few notes about the game:

  • After completing a level, your progress is saved so long as your Flash “cookies” aren’t deleted. Your design, however, is not; if you want to keep your design, you must go to the Save screen and save the text shown there (I keep my solutions in a text file on my desktop). You can reload a saved design by pasting the design code into the Load window and pressing the load button.
  • The music playing is Evan’s “Rever… Peut-etre…”, which you can find here on jamendo.com.

    Love this game! So much so that I wonder if I can change the shift and ctrl key bindings. I can play the game on my htc merge but the physical keyboard doesn’t have those keys. Is there a solution?
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Does anyone solved lvl VI ?
    I counted, that it’s required 10 units of Mercury, to create final compound.
    I don’t see how it’s possible to gain more than 6 units from one source in 18 cycles.

    In my opinion, there should be 2 sources of Mercury in order to solve this level.

    My level 8 looks like this:

    c,1,11;c,13,11;t,3,9;t,11,9;b,5,11;b,7,7;
    m,5,13,180,1,wwcrolwwww;

    m,6,9,90,1,wwjwwwwcrroll;
    m,11,7,90,1,jwwwwcruodl;

    I think it’s pretty neat.

    My final level, is a bit messy, but it works:

    I find it a lil bit funny looking at your guys lvl 8 setups, i had far fewer things on the board

    c,13,11;t,11,9;b,3,9;
    m,11,11,90,1,clludoll;
    m,3,11,90,1,wwwwwwwwwcrrorrw;

    m,2,1,0,1,wwwwcuuoddcuuodd;
    m,8,9,0,2,crruodll;m,3,6,90,2,wwwwwrwwwwwolc11;

    Maroon Jack, you might see your level 15 solution as messy, but if it doesn’t fail it’s all good. My solution was fairly similar, and a tiny bit less complicated, but i thought both were fun to watch.

    p,9,11;t,13,6;t,1,8;b,3,6;p,3,11;b,6,8;b,12,8;b,9,6;
    m,13,10,90,2,wwwwwwcullduddourr;

    m,3,13,270,3,rwclddouu;

    m,4,13,180,1,uwcdlllol;
    m,1,6,90,1,wwwwwwwjculordwww;
    m,10,8,180,2,wwwwc1rdoluwwwwwww;
    m,10,13,0,2,cdloruwwwwwwwwwwww;
    m,13,11,90,1,wjcruodlwww;
    m,9,8,0,1,rroluwwwwwwwwwcld2;

    m,6,6,0,1,wwrrcr1ruodwwwwwww;
    m,10,2,90,3,wwwwwwwwwcrd1oluww;

    Maniek, i’d like to help you here, but i really don’t know what the problem is. you say you need another mercury source, but level VI has zero mercury sources to begin with, and level VII only needs 2 mercury in a cycle of 18. Anyway, this is my solution to level VI, hope it helps
